Dream Gap
Unseen Barriers, Unheard Voices, Untold Dreams
Dream Gap is not just an art experience but a thought-provoking exploration of the hidden forces that shape personal autonomy and the journey from aspiration to fulfilment. It offers a unique and compelling perspective on the nuanced intersection of choice and coercion, challenging societal norms and systemic inequalities that restrict self-determination. By centring on marginalized experiences, particularly those of women and gender minorities, the exhibition also brings to light the universal struggle of defining one’s own path in a world where self-expression is often constrained.
Dream Gap is more than a symbol; it represents the emotional and psychological journey individuals undertake, from the aspiration of their dreams to the societal structures that often limit their pursuit. This emotional gap widens where gender, class, and social expectations intersect, creating invisible boundaries that influence personal choices. The exhibition vividly highlights the emotional and psychological complexities accompanying this journey, from fear and vulnerability to empowerment and defiance, fostering a deep sense of empathy and connection with the audience.
By bringing together diverse artistic voices, Dream Gap aims to dismantle judgment, promote empathy, and advocate for more inclusive frameworks of choice, identity, and autonomy. The exhibition’s ultimate goal is to inform, inspire and motivate the audience to envision a world where every choice is made free from coercion, and every dream is given equal space to thrive. This vision instils a sense of hope and empowerment, encouraging the audience to engage with the exhibition and reflect on personal autonomy.
